• advice and guidance to ensure UNITEC's degree and postgraduate programmes meet the required academic standards for local accreditation and international equivalence.
• encouraging debate on the ongoing academic policy and associated issues which face rgw institute as it moves to University status;
• development and implementation of the institute's Quality Management System and associated quality assurance and audit procedures at programme, departmental and faculty level;
• creating and leading an innovative tertiary teaching programme to foster teaching excellence and to promote educational professional development opportunities.
