Teresa Davis is currently a student in Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. She graduated from the State University of New York, College at Old Westbury with a degree in Elementary Education.

Ms. Davis was chosen to participate in the "Bristol Experience" through which she completed her student teaching in Bristol, England in an infant school, family-grouped classroom of four through seven year-olds. Her teaching experience includes: 7th and 8th grade literature, 2nd grade regular classroom, and K-2 electives. Her non-instructional activities have included directing an extended day program and coordinating a peer counseling program. Ms. Davis' role as project leader for a US EPA Environmental Education Grant gave her the opportunity to build a pond and butterfly garden on school grounds, while securing school-wide science materials for use with the some of the most enthusiastic and dedicated students and teachers ever to be found (Underwood GT Magnet - Raleigh, NC). As a member of a cadre of teachers chosen to implement a constructivist science curriculum, Ms. Davis learned quickly that adult learners, as well as children, come to learning with solidly held constructs. This has fostered her continued interest in the application of constructivist learning theory and alternative assessment strategies. Prior to coming to education, Ms. Davis studied finance; held a managerial position with a British garment manufacturer; performed numerous clerical positions from bank teller to customer service representative; and learned most of her cooperative learning skills through catering positions. Her leisurely pursuits have included community theater projects, managing a women's volleyball league and coordinating a college reading group.

As part of the Masters in School Administration (MSA) program, Ms. Davis will be a full-time intern at Root Elementary School in Wake County, NC, for the 96-97 school year. After completing her degree requirements, Ms. Davis will secure an Assistant Principalship in an elementary school in North Carolina. Her long term goals include becoming an effective Principal of an elementary school in North Carolina, as well as remaining an effective, affectionate mother to her beloved daughter.

Ms. Davis resides in Raleigh, NC with her husband and daughter, and their old and wise cat, Basil.
