Establishing an Environmental Scanning Process at Edinboro  4

FORWARD

We will begin the workshop with observations on how to anticipate the future; this will serve as an introduction to linking potential external developments to internal decision-making. External analysis is a major step in a strategic management/planning process. (For more information about this process, read "The Strategic Management Response to the Challenge of Global Change" [Morrison & Wilson, 1996]). Although our time is short, the exercises we conduct in this workshop will give you experience in external analysis and, in conjunction with this handbook, will enable you to initiate an environmental scanning capability on your campus.
